Vantage
The Vantage offers all the reliability, flexibility and robustness in liquid and solid phase peptide and organic synthesis as the Apex range, but in addition offers the capability of heating and cooling by including the Ares reaction block.
The Ares reactor assembly cools samples down to -78C or heats samples up to 150C via top and bottom heating plates, with less than 1.5C temperature difference between reaction vessels, providing excellent flexibility to perform a wide range of organic chemistry reactions. In addition to the septa, the reaction vessels are sealed with a patented Teflon membrane which permits reactions to occur at pressures up to 6 bar - this allows reactions normally carried out in sealed tubes to be performed in a controlled automated environment.
In addition to the single needle probe on arm 1, there is a second robotic arm that contains six needle probes in either a 1x6 or 3x2 configuration, which permits up to six different reagents with unique volumes to be dispensed simultaneously. The coaxial spray probe contains channels for both solvent and gas delivery to regulate the pressure in each of the reaction vessels. Solvent is removed from each reaction vessel by positive nitrogen pressure, which ensures an inert reaction environment and ensures the resin remains at the bottom of the vessel. The probe performs unique state-of-the-art liquid detection based on changes in the electrical capacitance of the probe, which minimizes probe exposure, and in turn, limits cross-contamination and enhances the precision of liquid handling, and overall increasing the product quality and decreasing synthesis time and cost. It also permits automated solvent extraction procedures.
