Product Description

Apogee

The Apogee is a fully automated tabletop synthesizer, capable of both peptide and organic synthesis reactions. The multi-tasking capability of the Apogee, together with its ability to perform fast-Boc and fast-Fmoc chemistries provides the user with an instrument capable of rapid peptide synthesis. The inert nitrogen atmosphere permits the use of air- and water-sensitive reagents, allowing even particularly difficult organic synthesis reactions to become automated.

Pre-dissolution and activation of amino acids in glass vials occurs during amino acid coupling in the reaction vessel; such an ability to perform simultaneous reactions enables very short cycle times (down to 42 minutes for Fmoc chemistry) and overall shorter synthesis times. Accurate fluid delivery, to as low as 1 ml, means all your reagents are delivered in a precise and timely fashion. The flow meter monitors wash and fill solvents during cycles, and watches solvent levels, so there is no instrument operation in the absence of reagents. During each synthesis all new solvent reagents are added from the top of the reaction vessel. Emptying occurs at the bottom of the vessel.

A unique feature of the Apogee is the external bar code scanner, which permits fast and error-free entry to peptide sequences into the software using the bar-coded amino acid vials. Alternatively, sequences can be entered manually into the software. Reagent mixing in the reaction vessel is achieved by one of the three optional mixing settings: nitrogen bubbling from the bottle of the vessel, variable speed wrist-action shaking, or a combination of both. The rate of bubbling and the speed of shaking can both be manually altered by the simple turn of a dial for homogenous agitation and optimum synthesis conditions. Synthesis is fully automated, and no intervention is required during the reaction cycles. However, should you require to interrupt the reaction, the synthesis can be paused at any time. Once the Fmoc reaction cycles are completed, the finished high quality peptide can be cleaved from the resin automatically using TFA delivered from an independent solvent line.

The Apogee software was designed by chemists for chemists and contains easy-to-use drag and drop programming features. Synthesis progression is displayed on screen in color coded sections for quick and easy visual reference. As well as permitting the easy creation of custom protocols, the software contains pre-programmed optimized standard protocols for both fast-Boc and fast-Fmoc chemistry.

Overall, the fast multi-tasking capability of the Apogee makes it the superior choice for affordable, dedicated automated peptide synthesis. This sophisticated yet easy-to-use instrument provides the chemist with all the features necessary for the production of reproducible high quality peptides.
